ABOUT JADE

Jade refers to two distinct minerals: jadeite and nephrite.
Jadeite has long been associated with Myanmar (Burma), where some of the world’s most well-known deposits are located. Today, jade continues to circulate globally as both a material and a cultural object.

Jadeite vs. Nephrite

Hardness: 6.5–7 (Mohs scale)

Colors: Green, purple, yellow, white, among others

Origin: Primarily from Myanmar

Jadeite is highly localized—its finest quality is almost exclusively sourced from Myanmar, making its origin notably concentrated.

Hardness: Mohs 6–6.5

Color: White / Green / Yellow / Brown, etc.

Origin: China, New Zealand, Canada,

Nephrite jade is widely distributed across multiple countries and regions, with notable sources in China, Russia, and Canada.
